| The Data Extraction Tool (found under the Reports tile on the top menu) allows users to export data to Google Earth. Google Earth allows the visual identification of mishap location data on the planet. Google Earth is a third party tool. Your local administrators must install on your computer. Google Earth is a software application that allows the visual identification of mishap location data on the planet. The US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) has a .mil approved version of the Google Earth enterprise client, called Google Earth Applications Research (GEAR). The Air Force software certification letter is located at https://gearportal.usace.army.mil/dotmil/downloads/cons/af_con.pdf.
The instructions below provide step-by-step guidance for downloading and installing the GEAR application.
1. Navigate to the USACE GEAR website at https://gearportal.usace.army.mil/dotmil/.
2. Select “Google Earth Client on the NIPR” from the homepage.
3. Enter your valid “.mil” email address.
4. GEAR will send you an email outlining Step 2.
5. From the email, select the link for the registration page.
6. Complete the form and select “click here to register”.
7. GEAR will send you a second email providing instructions on how to download GEAR Google Earth.
8. You will need to contact your CSA for help with installation of the software.
9. The CSA will select “Download Windows Client” and perform the installation.
